猫cat (HSK2)、 老鼠rat (HSK3)、 牛ox/cow (HSK2)的故事
很久以前，玉皇大帝Jade Emperor (HSK5+)要举行大比赛great race (HSK4)。猫cat (HSK2)和老鼠rat (HSK3)是好朋友friends (HSK1)。
他们都想参加，但是都不会游泳swim (HSK2)。
老鼠rat (HSK3)说：“我们找牛ox (HSK2)帮忙吧！”
牛ox (HSK2)又强壮strong (HSK4)又善良kind (HSK5)。
他说：“好，上来吧！”
猫cat (HSK2)和老鼠rat (HSK3)跳到牛背ox’s back (HSK3)上。
牛ox (HSK2)慢慢走进河river (HSK2)里。
猫cat (HSK2)觉得太阳很暖和，闭上眼睛睡觉sleep (HSK2)。
老鼠rat (HSK3)聪明clever (HSK3)，他想得到第一名first place (HSK3)。
他悄悄地quietly (HSK3)把猫the cat (HSK2)推下水push into water (HSK3+)！
猫cat (HSK2)大叫，掉进冰冷icy cold (HSK4)河river (HSK2)里。
快到岸边shore (HSK3)时，老鼠rat (HSK3)从牛头ox’s head (HSK3)跳下来，跑run (HSK1)到岸上bank/shore (HSK2)。
玉皇大帝Jade Emperor (HSK5+)说：“老鼠rat (HSK3)第一名first place (HSK3)！”
牛ox (HSK2)第二个。
猫cat (HSK2)很晚才游swim (HSK2)到岸边shore (HSK3)，已经没有名次no place (HSK3+)了。
从那天起，猫cat (HSK2)记恨hold grudge (HSK5+)老鼠rat (HSK3)。

Cat, Rat and Ox
Long ago, the Jade Emperor held a great race. The Cat and Rat were good friends but couldn’t swim.The Rat said, “Let’s ask the Ox for help!” The strong and kind Ox let them ride on his back.
As they crossed the river, the Cat fell asleep in the warm sun. The clever Rat wanted first place.
He quietly pushed the Cat into the cold water! The Cat fell far behind, splashing and crying.
Near the shore, the Rat jumped off the Ox’s head and ran to the bank first. The Jade Emperor said, “Rat is first! Faithful Ox is second!”
The wet, angry Cat arrived much later with no place in the zodiac. That’s why cats still chase rats today![web:12]
